n October 16th, 2023, the National AI Awards took place at Adastral Park in Ipswich, and we at Hertzian were thrilled to be nominated for the "AI Product of the Year" category. Competing alongside impressive nominees like Earzz, the Kiki Family App, Oura Ring, and the Westminster City Council's "Report It!" team, our excitement was palpable as we showcased what Hertzian has to offer.

While we didn’t take home the award, the experience was anything but disappointing. Our team members returned with a treasure trove of insights and stories that highlighted the significance of being part of such a dynamic event.

Benedetto "Benny" Bottalico, our Solutions Manager, described the event as "genuinely enjoyable and very insightful." He shared how fascinating it was to witness the diverse applications of AI across various industries. Benny remarked, "This experience significantly improved my understanding of AI's transformative potential and its impending profound impact on our daily lives." He felt privileged to witness firsthand the progress this technology is making and the future it promises.

Full Stack Software Developer Christian Dove echoed similar sentiments, emphasizing that "The event was a great experience." He particularly enjoyed engaging with attendees from other businesses and found the awards ceremony to be "very cool." Being from a nearby town, Christian appreciated the event being close to home, which made the experience even more special.

Our resident Machine Learning and Data Scientist, David Dixon, called the AI Awards "a tour de force of what actionable AI means." He expressed gratitude for attending, and in a surprising twist, also received an award on behalf of Jarell Bampong, the winner of the AI Citizen of the Year Award. Although David found this moment "very embarrassing" due to the misconception he was the rightful winner, it added a unique memory to the day.

CTO Andrew Husband was impressed by the event, noting it was a marked improvement over the previous year. He appreciated the opportunity to showcase our business and engage in meaningful conversations. Andrew acknowledged the deserving win by Earzz, highlighting the social good it provides to vulnerable populations.

Finally, our CEO, Christopher Weavill, thoroughly enjoyed the event. From the engaging showcase to the lively atmosphere, he had a great time. Christopher even noted the fun of the Jira photo booth and the delicious desserts catered at the event. He expressed gratitude towards the organisers, Future Tech Events, for their excellent management and support, contributing to the event's smooth and successful execution.

While we didn’t bring home the trophy, the National AI Awards was undoubtedly a remarkable experience for everyone involved. We extend our heartfelt congratulations to Earzz for their well-deserved win in the "AI Product of the Year" category, as well as to all nominees and attendees who made this event memorable.

As we look forward to the coming year, we’re excited about all the innovations and advancements in the AI industry. Here’s to continuing to push the boundaries of what AI can achieve!
